Gateway Tire’s hometown, personal approach to customer service is the reason why the business succeeds, according to a company spokesperson.

Gateway Tire, 407 S. James Campbell Blvd., Columbia, won two awards in the 2013 Best Of Maury County online survey sponsored by The Daily Herald. The business won Best Place to Buy Tires for the eighth consecutive year and also won Best Auto Repair.

Spokesperson Tracy Beadle said a customer-oriented service model is sometimes lost when businesses grow. The personal touch is often sacrificed, which should never happen, she said.

“Customer service is kind of lost in the shuffle to find lower prices, and we make sure it’s No. 1,” Beadle said. “We bend over backward to make our customers happy, and we treat them like family.”

Gateway’s employees are happy to work which creates an enjoyable atmosphere for both customer and worker, she added.

The personal touch leads customers to recommend the business to their friends and family, Beadle said. Hearing about referrals from customers is a “humbling” experience, she added.

“We really appreciate that so many people took the time to vote,” Beadle said.

Gateway Tire is open from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri. and from 7 a.m.-noon on Saturday. More information may be obtained by calling (931) 381-5100.
